Feast of Weeks - "Shavuot"
Yahweh's Feast Days are always a joy to look for, a pleasure to celebrate and full of blessings for His people when they do so. YAHWEH calls this day the "feast of weeks," or "Shavuot" in Hebrew (Exodus 34:22). Some refer to it as "pentecost" which is used in most English versions of scriptures in Acts but it merely means "fifty days." The scriptures call this special day the "feast of weeks" (Exodus 34:22) or "feast of sevens." The Messiah as well as His apostles and disciples would have most likely called it the same as opposed to "pentecost." The Feast of Weeks is a one-day feast which follows a specific count from a specific day around the time of the Feast of Unleavened Bread. Let it be known to the children reading this that when Yahushua walked the earth, there were three different methods of this count. Below are verses from the New Kings James version of the Bible that tell more about this time. Please take your Bible and read these stories for yourselves or with your parents. There are other activities listed below, including a quiz on what you learn.
Leviticus 23:15-22, And you shall count for yourselves from the day after the Sabbath, from the day that you brought the sheaf of the wave offering: seven weeks shall be completed. Count fifty days to the day after the seventh seven; then you shall offer a new grain offering to YAHWEH.ֿֿֿֿ You shall bring from your dwellings two wave loaves of two-tenths of an ephah. They shall be of fine flour; they shall be baked with leaven. They are the firstfruits to YAHWEH. And you shall offer with the bread seven lambs of the first year, without blemish, one young bull, and two rams. They shall be as a burnt offering to YAHWEH, with their grain offering and their drink offerings, an offering made by fire for a sweet aroma to YAHWEH. Then you shall sacrifice one kid of the goats as a sin offering, and two male lambs of the first year as a sacrifice of a peace offering. The priest shall wave them with the bread of the firstfruits as a wave offering before YAHWEH, with the two lambs. They shall be holy to YAHWEH for the priest. And you shall proclaim on the same day that it is a holy convocation to you. You shall do no customary work on it. It shall be a statute forever in all your dwellings throughout your generations. When you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not wholly reap the corners of your field when you reap, nor shall you gather any gleaning from your harvest. You shall leave them for the poor and for the stranger: I am YAHWEH, your Elohim.'”
Revelation 14:1-5, Then I looked, and behold, a Lamb standing on Mount Zion, and with Him one hundred and forty-four thousand, having His Father's name written on their foreheads. And I heard a voice from heaven, like the voice of many waters, and like the voice of loud thunder. And I heard the sound of harpists playing their harps. They sang as it were a new song before the throne, before the four living creatures, and the elders; and no one could learn that song except the hundred and forty-four thousand who were redeemed from the earth. These are the ones who were not defiled with women, for they are virgins. These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever He goes. These were redeemed from among men, being firstfruits to YAHWEH and to the Lamb. And in their mouth was found no deceit, for they are without fault before the throne of YAHWEH.
Acts 2:1-4, When the Day of Shavuot had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
You should take time to read more, especially the account in Acts, because that actually depicts more of the events of the day. Remember, the Messiah Yahshua said he would send a Comforter.
