Lesson 10 - Joseph (Part One)

Joseph was one of the sons of Jacob.

Jacob loved his son Joseph very much. He loved him more than his other sons. Jacob loved Joseph so much that he made him a special coat. The coat had many bright colors.

Joseph had ten older brothers. His brothers knew that their father loved Joseph more than them. Joseph’s brothers did not like him because of this.

They were jealous.

One day Joseph’s brothers were out in the field taking care of the sheep. Joseph went out to get them.

When Joseph came to them they threw him into a deep hole in the field. It was so deep that he could not get out.

When some Ishmaelites came along, they bought Joseph from his brothers for twenty pieces of silver. They sold Joseph to an Egyptian man and Joseph became a slave.

His brothers took his coat and put some lamb’s blood on it to make their father think Joseph was dead.

When Jacob heard that his son was dead, he was very sad.
